What Is the SOURCE Waiver?
SOURCE is a waiver program operated under Medicaid that offers assistance to the elderly, ill, or disabled Georgia residents. The care needs of individuals served under the program usually coincide with those receiving nursing home care. Eligible recipients can receive the requisite care in their homes or in communities. Non-medical and medical caregiver services are available for low-income Georgia residents.
Goal of the SOURCE Program
The primary objective of the program is to offer an alternative to nursing home care facilities for the elderly and ill. Eligible Georgia residents may be granted waivers for use in skilled nursing facilities, adult day care, home care, and companion care services. Most recipients aren’t able to live alone and are in need of long term care. Individuals should be eligible for SSI (Supplementary Security Income) or Medicaid. Dementia care patients, Alzheimer’s patients, the elderly, and those with chronic conditions may be eligible. An assessment is performed to determine a person’s eligibility for the program. A SOURCE program waiver recipient may use those funds toward our adult day care services, skilled nursing care, and home care services in Atlanta.
